Canvas from week one in the #plunge series at St George’s Church Leeds.

Based on 1 Peter 3:21, “and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also—not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a clear conscience toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ.” and Galatians 3:27, “for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ”.

I wanted to capture the ‘clear conscience’ talked about in 1 Peter 3:21.  I used the whites, yellows and gold to represent this.  The words ‘clothed with Christ’ were then selected from Galatians 3:27 echoing the idea that was taught about us ‘piggybacking’ on Jesus’ baptism.
